Enterprise Architect for Data Architecture in Chicago, IL
Job Summary Individual contributor participates in the development, specification and communication of the firm's technology architecture plan, with a specific focus on the data architecture layer, both structured and unstructured, the infrastructure components required to support it, and in the integration of corporate and business area architectures. Provides guidance to others informally and formally leads teams on short-term basis. Develops innovative and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems. 1. IT as relates to Enterprise Information Management 2. Enterprise Architecture Governance 3. Information/Data Strategy Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Participates in the development and maintenance of an enterprise information management strategy in support of the business and system architecture and conducts business information flow studies. 2. Works with compliance, business areas and other architects to develop, communicate and measure progress towards an EIM strategy. 3. Establishes an achievable roadmap defining information architecture standards and patterns, identifying comprehensive solution alternatives 4. Participates in Idea Qualification which entails business case development for IT projects. 5. Provides technical consultation to clients and IT management to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies. 6. Acts as Project Leader and may instruct, assist, and provide guidance to other staff. 7. Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the insurance industry. May perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting Relationship Director or above Skills, Knowledge & Abilities 1. Working knowledge of design and implementation of enterprise workflow systems, distributed architecture, intranet/internet architecture, and communication architectures. 2. Workingknowledge of the enterprise architecture layers and interrelationships. 3, understanding of data modeling tools, DBMS tools, data integration and data quality tools, business intelligence tools, document management tools, and metadata management tools. 4. Proven knowledge of enterprise information management discipline. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively with clients, peers, and IT management and staff. 6. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 7. Ability to lead teams on short-term projects. 8. Strong knowledge of interface design and user centered design methods. 9. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and other business related software systems and hardware. Education & Experience 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. 2. Minimum seven years of solid, diverse work experience in IT including experience with systems architecture methodologies. 3. Some previous project leadership experience is desirable. 4. Applicable certifications preferred. Experience: .
