QM Lead - Business Project Manager in Chicago, IL
Description Our client one of the largest commercial, property & casualty insurers in the US is seeking a QM Lead - Business Project Manager Type of position: Contract Location: Chicago , IL Activities/Functions: Tailors standards and best practices (including methodologies, processes, procedures, approaches, samples, templates, tools) from Client's process asset library and industry into the working practices of the work effort . Ensures that the Quality Management Strategy and Plan is tailored to the appropriate level to provide the highest level of value for the work effort at the appropriate level of cost, while addressing the risk of the work effort. Provides Quality Strategies and Plans based on enterprise lessons learned and best practices. . Develops proposed improvement plans to product, process, and resource quality gaps for alignment and action, via After Action Reviews, Quality Reviews, and Quality Metrics . Assists with decision on appropriate phase and subphase exit criteria in order to properly govern the delivery and ensure quality throughout the lifecycle . Consults in defining and governing the appropriate quality metrics to use in measuring the overall product, process, and resource quality within the work effort . Consults in defining and governing the quality reviews of the work effort's products, processes, and resources . Performs collection, analysis and trending reports on quality metrics and key performance indicators to enable decisions and action plans . Accountable for Quality Management, methodology, process, and tool training material and coordination and delivery of training to the work effort's team members . Provides coaching and expertise in delivery lifecycle functions on work effort .Leads internal quality audits, as needed Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Manages the work activities and staff of the functional area and has full management responsibilities for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic directions. 2. Manages the work activities for multiple projects, consisting of one or more project teams. 3. Leads project prioritization processes for the area, linking to business strategies. Reviews and evaluates project plans and objectives, project plans and budgets and priorities. 4. Supervises project execution including scheduling, team building, and maintains working relationships with functional areas, monitoring progress and results. 5. Establishes quality and performance targets. Applies effective project management methodologies and control techniques and financial trending analysis for evaluation of projects. 6. May provide technical expertise for technically complex aspects of assigned projects. 7. Develops and implements communication plan, and implements document management process. 8. Participates in the development of financial plans and budgets. 9. Responsible for staying up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise as well as the insurance industry. 10. May participate in development of business requirements to support continuous improvement in project management capabilities. Organizational Alignment: . Direct Line report to the Quality Management Function in the ePMO . In-direct/Dotted Line report to the work effort lead/sponsor (PRT Lead or Business Sponsor) as a consulting role to the PRT/RRT Qualifications: . Graduate Degree/MBA in business and/or Information Technology is preferred . Total experience: 10+ years of both consulting and general industry experience in Software Engineering practices with approximately 5-6 years specific to Software Engineering Quality . Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of quality management challenges, trends, and leading practices .High competency of written and verbal communication, influencing, presentation, and listening skills in order to interact with executive leadership .Knowledge of industry standards such as: ISO9001, COBIT, CMMi, ITIL. .Knowledge of and experience of industry software lifecycle techniques such as: Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Spiral, Enterprise Package Implementation, Business Intelligence, Custom Development, Integration . Strong organizational, time management, and follow up skills . Ability to be independent and complete work assignments with little oversight . Hands on experience in implementing Software CMM, CMMI at least at Level 3 . Should have exposure in Quantitative process management across the organization . Experience in Product Quality Assurance, including Quality Planning, Assurance, and Control . Should be familiar with Six Sigma/Total Quality Management/Lean and other models. .
