We are looking for a Senior Cognos Architect for a Chicago based project.Detailed Profile: 8-10 years of experience in the Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse field, Cognos experience of 6 + years. 1. Provide best practices for day-to-day operations, performance analysis and tuning and capacity planning. 2. Architect the Cognos 8.X(8.3 and above) BI environment to support the volume of report generation with accepted levels of response times. 3. Provide the overall reporting solution foundation for development, implementation and operation for data reporting, modelling, and analysis of a data warehouse. 4. Provide technical support for Cognos 8 applications including report analysis, development, maintenance, and report migration 5. Responsible for developing and maintaining Framework Manager Models; and applying proper securities and publishing packages. Should be proficient in designing and creating metadata models in Framework Manager as per the business requirements and specifications. 6. Must be very familiar with Cognos reporting capabilities and responsible for tuning and optimization of the reporting solution. 7. Familiarity with Dimensional Modelling techniques and best practices required. Very familiar in creating star schema groupings for business users, resolving ambiguous relationships and reporting traps that occur through modelling. Strong background in cube builds against dimensional data as well as relational 8. They must be knowledgeable in the with the Cognos BI suite of products. Version - 8.X (8.3 and above) suite and should have worked in following Cognos applications: - Cognos Connection - Cognos Framework Manager - Cognos Report Studio - Cognos Administration - Cognos Query Studio - Other Cognos applications such as Metric Studio and Analysis Studio, etc are optional 9. Strong technical skills with Cognos administration 10. Knowledge of troubleshooting and problem analysis methods for technical applications from end user perspective. 11. Able to interact with clients by gathering user requirements, generating a positive user experience based on the requirements and providing documentation for the applications so that they can be easily maintained and knowledge can be easily transferred. 12. Develop high level and detailed architecture and design documents. 13. The candidate should have experience with Installation, configuration and optimization of Cognos 8.4/8.3 BI application suite on distribute environment. 14. Review and finalize implementation plan for Cognos 8.4/8.3 BI application suite on distribute environment.
