Business System Analyst in Chicago, IL
The Business Systems Analyst is a member of the Information Technology Department. This position reports to the Director, Business Systems Analysis. Primary responsibilities include: functional and system specifications, recommendations for solutions to business or system problems, preparation of charts or diagrams to assist in problem analysis, problem resolution through technical specifications, testing and installation of programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations, database analyst, and users, ensuring satisfactory results.
1)Functional analysis and design of new systems or enhancements to the current system including system scope and objectives.
2)Systems analysis and design of new systems or enhancements to the current system, devising computer programs, screens, systems, and procedures to meet business needs.
3)Use of charts or diagrams to assist in functional or systems analysis.
4)Development of timetables and deliverables including operations training or hardware purchases if required.
5)Written functional or technical specifications as required. This may involve flow charts and diagrams from which programs may be written.
6)If computer equipment is used, consider the capacity and limitations of the equipment, operating time, and form of the desired result.
7)Test programs and procedures working in conjunction with the computer operations staff, dba, programmers and users to ensure satisfactory results. This includes user training if required.
8)Works with some supervision regularly conferring with superior on functional or programming matters.
9)Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring some originality and ingenuity.
10)Actions or decisions may require some review.
11)Develop and maintain Kaplan business as a set of business rules.
Experience: 1)2-5 years professional experience.
2)Project management experience or PMI certification.
3)Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4)Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and functional and technical skill to the completion of easy to moderately difficult assignments.
