The role of a Senior Systems Engineer is to support Non-Production proprietary applications. These applications are large and complex; involving multiple components, multiple technologies, and multiple operating systems. As a senior engineer, the work is generally divided into two categories: support and deployment. Support tasks involve responding to issues reported by customers by investigating, troubleshooting, and escalating as necessary. It is expected that an engineer can provide up to level 2 support across all components and level 3 for specific components. Deployment tasks involve using proprietary tools to distribute software across hundreds of servers. Along with this, the engineer is also responsible for testing the application post-deployment. Responsibilities  Management, administration, support, configuration, and testing of J2EE (specifically EJB) systems.  Administration, support, and configuration of custom PERL and PYTHON utilities.  Responsible for providing second level support across all environments and participate in the On-Call Schedule  Responsible for providing third level support for at least one component across all environments  Responsible for monitoring and responding to all environment related queries to the team via Hotline, Chat, or Email  Responsible for the timely execution of Change Requests  Responsible for the timely resolution or escalation of Incident Reports  Responsible for providing well communicated hand-over between shifts  Responsible for providing weekly status reports  Responsible for adhering to all standard operating processes and procedures Essential Skills Required:  Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills  Familiarity with both UNIX and Windows environments  Understanding and hands on experience with PERL and PYTHON.  Minimum of 5+ years total experience working in distributed enterprise type applications.  Experience and understanding of hosted applications especially in areas such as scalability, clustering, high availability, failover, and disaster recovery  Understanding and experience with administration of J2SE and J2EE enterprise applications.  Understanding of basic object oriented programming principles  Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is a strong team player  Fast learner with strong communication skills (written and oral) Nice To Have:  Understanding of Interest rates risk management and trading strategies.  Experience in a large financial institution.
