Senior Web Designer / Developer

XPRESSTRADE is expanding its in-house web design and development team and is looking for a whiz-bang, highly capable web designer/developer to join our innovative, entrepreneurial, fast-paced team!

You'll be hands-on from day one, sketching, building, and enhancing our websites, which include several informational sites accessible to the general public, as well as our secure, browser-based trading platform. In a nutshell, you'll help us develop a stronger web presence to market our futures, options, and forex trading services. And you'll play an important role in our efforts to deliver an overall exceptional online trading experience to our clients.

Job Activities, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Website Design About 40% of your time.
• Design the look and feel of web pages that are visually pleasing, load quickly, and meet established standards
• Develop graphical images and effects to achieve design goals
• Create page layouts, navigation and traffic flows, registration pages, product detail pages, lead capture schemes, and general web page functionality
• Develop high-level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
• Have a strong understanding of the latest PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript techniques and web design "best practices," including website accessibility, search engine optimization, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Website Development Roughly 50% of your time.
• Create HTML templates from approved design concepts, using modern "web standards" techniques, including CSS layout/positioning
• Site production using Dreamweaver, and graphic production using Fireworks/Photoshop
• Be as comfortable writing PHP, HTML, and CSS code by hand as you are doing page production and site maintenance in Dreamweaver
• Site testing, including browser compatibility and accessibility testing. We're looking for a sharp, motivated, advanced web developer who can crank out efficient, elegant code.

• Online Advertisements Around 10% of your time.
• Brainstorm and collaborate with internal and external partners (creative/design, marketing professionals, management, agencies, etc.) to develop and design concepts and ideas for web-based advertising pieces
• Create online advertising, promotional, and direct e-mail marketing pieces that are powerful, enticing, compelling, standards-compliant, and sure to generate excellent results.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

• Education
• Bachelor's or equivalent degree from an accredited four-year institution
• A degree in advertising, marketing (particularly interactive marketing), graphic design, computer science, or computer engineering is a plus
• Dual degrees or a master's degree in any of the aforementioned fields is a strong plus.

• Experience
• Minimum 5 years hands-on, advanced, commercial web design and/or development experience using HTML, including the latest XHTML standards, and PHP; CSS for presentation and layout; Dreamweaver; Fireworks; and Flash.
• Experience working with JavaScript, Flash, JSP, or on dynamic or database-driven websites is a plus, as is BEA Weblogic experience
• The ideal candidate will know web design and/or development inside and out, just like we know online futures and forex brokerage inside and out.

• English Language
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
• Candidates must be capable of writing efficiently, persuasively, and properly
• The ability to distill complex information into an easy-to-understand written language is essential. You must be able to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
