There is an opportunity for a role within the Trading Technology Support (TTS) team that forms part of Global Markets Trading Technology (GMTT). The team needs someone who can: 1. Work effectively in a client focused global financial organisation 2. Analyse technical problems quickly and effectively; Liaise with other members in the team to quickly diagnose support calls from Grid users, supporting applications built using C++, Java, Perl and other scripting languages on a Unix/Linux and Windows platform; 3. Work independently on projects and manage concurrent tasks effectively; 4. Willingness to travel (ideally twice a year for two week periods) as the Grid Software is geographically spread between London, New York and Chicago. BACKGROUND ON THE TEAM The TTS team is responsible for the development and support of the Global Grid among a variety of other applications. The Global Grid is shared compute infrastructure providing approximately 10,000 compute nodes to multiple applications and business lines worldwide. The TTS team is geographically situated between Chicago, London and Bangalore; these three teams together provide a follow-the-sun support model for multiple trading floors throughout the globe. DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE The role is to provide day-to-day support and configuration management of the Grid. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend around 75% of their time working on day to day support issues on the production grid, 25% participating in project work. The role is predominately that of support and grid production management. Good interpersonal skills are needed in working with 1st line support and developers to correctly identify their application related issues. Summary of Responsibilities - Day to Day Support for production grid. - Testing, performance monitoring and trouble shooting. - Scripting as and when required on Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms. - Project Management - Assisting and working with other Development teams with their Grid development. Summary of Essential Skills Required - Good Computing Qualification - Previous Grid/Distributed Computing (e.g. CORBA, J2EE etc) experience. Datasynapse experience will be particularly advantageous. - Understanding/Knowledge of supporting middleware and application Infrastructure. - Level of UNIX/Linux understanding should reflect 2-4 years experience. - Level of Scripting should reflect 2-4 years experience (e.g. any of the following: Perl, ksh/bsh/csh Unix, Java or SQL Scripting) - Self-motivated, enthusiastic and must be a team player. - The interview process will include multiple perl, scripting and UNIX exercises.
