Our international client has a contract need in the Chicago area for a strong Database Analyst with significant experience working with existing databases and applications in a mission critical production environment. This position will have exposure and support requirements for a wide range of applications, and will be interfacing with many departments and technical personnel. This position gets involved with many conference call scenarios so strong verbal communication skills are an absolute must!, You should be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and be a strong self starter. Specifically, your background should include a strong background with the following * Strong experience doing base support, as opposed to project work. * Experience supporting day to day phone calls and email requests, enhancements and table changes, production to test refreshes, things that are broken and need to be fixed, enhancing existing Unix monitoring scripts, etc. * Experience multitasking and handling a deadline focused work load. Your technical skills should include at least 5 years professional work in the following areas: SQL Server DBA skills - installing SQL server, backup and recovery, performance and tuning Perl skills - familiarity with PERL - we are using it to monitor SQL server Oracle DBA skills - Oracle 8/9 required Support for oracle on Unix / Intel (AIX, HP, Windows) Unix korn shell scripting for monitoring oracle Your Oracle experience ideally will include at least 2 years of the following: Oracle backup and recovery using RMAN Oracle performance and tuning Oracle installs and upgrades Oracle proactive monitoring Oracle databsae design Oracle utilities like export / import for complicated database refreshes This position requires a criminal and drug background investigation.
