COMMODITY LEADER
Description:
Prepares strategy and manages procurement process for more complex commodities. Reviews and analyzes procurement processes in conjunction with cross-functional process improvement teams. Develops and negotiates goods and services contracts for the organization.

Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines:
1. Conducts research to determine and prioritize opportunities for cost savings within the commodity area.

2. Researches and identifies vendors for higher value/more complex commodities, initiating RFP process and negotiations.

3. Develops, implements and improves work processes relating to supplier initiatives and monitors on a continual basis.

4. Designs and executes project plans related to the sourcing and implementation process. Assembles the appropriate resources to support sourcing initiatives.

5. Provides team leadership to the commodity area.

6. Builds relationships and acts as relationship manager with clients and vendors.

7. Leads the ongoing interaction between supplier and end-users in order to assure total cost productivity through clear and precise goals, escalating issues as needed.

8. Determines and monitors supplier performance and provides updates on performance to customer base and management.


Additional Responsibilities:
1. Performs other essential duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Thorough knowledge of departmental sourcing practices and procedures as they relate to the organization.

2. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software (ARIBA, etc.).

3. Familiarity with technology (hardware/software) procurement.

4. Consultative skills are preferred.

5. Good verbal and written communication skills.

6. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and with personnel at all levels.

7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.

8. Must be results oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.


Education and Experience:
1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

2. Eight years work experience with minimum of five years experience in purchasing field.

3. Consulting/Sales experience is a plus.
