Pierce Technology Corporation is an established professional services company with a focus on providing information technology services to Fortune 500 companies in the NY/NJ/PA area, on both a consulting and permanent basis. Pierce has an immediate opening with a corporation in Chicago, Illinois. Responsibilities: Troubleshoot problems in the online and testing environments pertaining to application software, configuration, networks or 3rd Party software. Assist in problem resolution follow-up. Produce reports, new or revised operating procedures and training to junior staff. Review existing Operational procedures and implement automation initiatives to enhance these procedures. Represent the department on special project teams, new business and corporate goal initiatives.Requirements: Requires 2-4 years experience with UNIX or Tandem utilities. Ability to write shell scripts is a plus. Knowledge of Third party software (HP Openview, Remedy and Crystal reports) is desirable. Knowledge of ITIL best practices, basic understanding of TCP/IP protocol, and services a plus. Posses a knowledge of databases (Oracle, Sybase, SQL, DB2 etc.). Must have experience with UNIX systems or Compaq Non-Stop mainframes, X-terminals and IP networking. Programming skills in TACL, TAL, C, C++, HTML, CGI-Perl, Java and or other object-orientated languages are a major plus. Solid experience with Microsoft Word, Excel/Lotus and PC based graphics programs is a plus. Knowledge of the Trading Floor is a plus. Interpersonal skills such as tact, problem solving and analytical ability are necessary elements of this position. Desired Education: This position requires a minimum of 4 plus years experience in operating multiple and diverse computer equipment, communication networks, knowledge of policies and procedures and workflow patterns of department and inter-departments. Education: College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
