Overview and Responsibilities The developer is responsible for delivering high quality J2EE code in a timely manner across a variety of project engagements. J2EE developers are expected to participate in multiple phases of the project lifecycle (i.e., design, develop, deploy) and will be responsible for requirements gathering, software design, development, and testing. Most development involves standard application servers such as BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere, and often incorporates package solutions such as BEA WebLogic Portal, Vignette Portal, or BroadVision. Candidates must be proficient with standard Java development tools, including ANT, log4J, JUnit, and popular IDE?s such as Eclipse or NetBeans. Proficiency with open source frameworks such as Struts, Tiles, Axis, or others is a plus. Candidates must have IT Consulting experience and be familiar with a team approach to execution and possess effective written and verbal communication skills. Degree Required. Required Experience Candidates should have at least 3 full professional software Engineering project experiences across multiple platforms. Required Skills Programming Languages Core Java (JDK 1.4) J2EE fundamentals, including JSP, Servlets, JDBC Proficiency with web languages, including HTML and JavaScript. Alternate scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, or Python a plus Computer networking and Unix fundamentals Application Servers and Packages BEA WebLogic or IBM WebSphere Relationship database fundamentals and servers (e.g. Oracle, Sybase, etc) Preferred: Experience with a major portal package, such as BEA WLP, Vignette, IBM WebSphere Portal, BroadVision, etc Experience with a major content management package, such as Documentum, Interwoven, etc
