Position - DBA-DB2 on UNIX Duration - Permanent Position Location - Chicago, IL 60601 Function: Perform Database Administration duties using IBMs DB2 on Unix. Responsible for phyical databases; participates in design and implementation of backup, recovery, archiving and database conversion strategies. Manages and maintains data in production and test databases. Converts logical data model to physical database model, ensuring efficient and reliable database performance. Participates in the planning and organizing of database activities regarding reliability, performance monitoring, tuning and disaster recovery. Enforces database standards and procedures. Provides technical assistance to staff in relation to database design and programming. Experience: Requirements: 1) Three years of DB2 Unix database administration work experience with a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology OR four years of DB2 Unix database administration work experience with a technical certification OR five years of work experience in DB2 Unix database administration; 2) demonstrated ability with verbal and written communication; 3) demonstrated ability in customer service and results oriented. Preferred: Preference will be given to applicants with the following skills and/or experience: 1) Experience in database administration in the Health Care Insurance industry; 2) Experience with large Unix DB2 databases, including use and experience with the Data Partitioning Feature; 3) Knowledge and experience with DB2Connect implementation, tuning and troubleshooting.
