Visual Designer in Chicago, IL
POSITION SUMMARY The Visual Designer develops visuals for various Strategic Learning projects, coordinates media design, formatting, and maintenance, captures content and documentation creatively using various media during live programs and meetings, and works with the Learning Innovation Specialist to manage, execute and deliver visual and multimedia projects for Grant Thornton University ( GTU ) and firm communications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develop visuals for various Strategic Learning projects. -Collaborate with Learning Design team and subject matter resources to create program content. -Create original PowerPoint presentations with subject matter resources to create compelling content. -Review drafts of presentation content and add value with original design and visual treatment according to firm branding standards. -Develop visual themes to support content. -Exercise ability to match the right image from library with content. -Demonstrate expertise in repurposing effective visual content. -Develop and maintain user-friendly image library that developers can reuse on multiple projects. -Use Flash and HTML to create interactive animations and web pages. 2. Coordinate media design, iteration, formatting, and maintenance. -Capture and edit digital photographs for Strategic Learning. -Maintain archive of digital media available for immediate use and modification. -Reuse or repurpose digital media for multiple applications. -Develop a variety of print and online materials including logos, photographs, information diagrams and charts, program signage, and banners. 3.Capture content and documentation creatively using various media during live programs and meetings. -Participate in face-to-face programs and design sessions, or other meetings to capture key ideas and content using flipcharts and whiteboards, PowerPoint presentations, and digital photography and video. 4. Work with the Learning Innovation Specialist to manage, execute and deliver visual and multimedia projects for GTU and firm communications. -Help set up audio and video equipment for recording or broadcasting sessions. -Assist with editing of multimedia files. -Draft and edit scripts for multimedia projects. -Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion. -Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. -Perform other job-related duties as necessary. Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS -Bachelor's degree in Communications, Liberal Arts, Graphic Design or related field. -3-5 years of experience in similar position. -Must have technical aptitude ( visual and digital competencies and learning design a plus ). -Experience with or aptitude to learn Microsoft Office ( Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel ). -Experience with video and multimedia creation and editing tools ( Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Encore and Creative Suite, and Macromedia Flash ). -Experience creating graphics and presentations that depict memorable themes and images. -Ability to rapidly prototype using multiple tools during collaborative, creative design sessions. -Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills. -Must be customer focused. -Ability to take initiative on own projects and work independently. -Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects. -Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and listening communication skills. -Commitment to personal continuous learning. -Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Strategic Learning team. -Ability to work additional hours as needed.
