WebSphere administration

- Installing the WebSphere software on AIX/Windows/Linux

- Creating Cells/Nodes/Application Servers, Federating nodes and creating/configuring application server clusters

- Configuring Enterprise Applications and MQ/DB2 resources

- Configuring WebSphere Security using LDAP and DB2

- Automating Enterprise application installations and resource configurations using jacl/python scripting

- Understanding class loaders in WebSphere

- Understanding webserver plugin configurations

- Understanding J2EE platform



Java

- Need to know how to write/compile & run basic java programs because rPOS project is a java platform (does not need to be a programmer)

- Java Virtual Machine concepts :

- class/jar/classpath/Memory



Basic understanding of MQ/DB2

- Queue/Queue Manager/Listener Port/Message Drive Beans in J2EE & WebSphere

- DB2 database/schema/performing queries



Unix Scripting

- Shell

- Automation using ssh/ksh/awk/tar/zip/ls/cp/scp utilities

- Basic perl

- Basic string parsing



Troubleshooting

- Reading logs of WebSphere application servers and also a stand-alone java program

- Running 'ipconfig/netstat/nmap' commands to troubleshoot any network or port issues

- Running verify shell scripts on rPOS components and going from there



Unix/AIX/Linux background

- Editing files using vi/emacs

- Reading and understanding korn shell scripts

- Interpreting scripting and Unix command outputs

- Basic understanding of Secure Shell

- Basic understanding in X/Motif



Daily deploys/start/stop/verify

- Supporting daily deployments of various java components in various environments

- Using automated scripting framework
