Oracle DBA in Chicago, IL

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced DBA who can immediately begin to add value to the area.
The candidate should have Oracle and Sybase knowledge. Candidate would be expected to execute multiple application and infrastructure projects ensuring that all DBA and Project checkpoints have been addressed.
For the duration of the project assignment, the candidate will function as the primary database contact for the Technical Services Project Management Office (PMO), Application Partners and Technical Services partners.
The candidate would provide database expertise as either the lead on database-only projects or serve as a virtual team member (VTM) for larger projects with representatives from multiple Technical Services teams.
All database staff rotate through the firecall list and will be expected to provide after hours support for the production environments.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The candidate should have significant (6+ years) DBA experience in a combination of Oracle and Sybase. A record of working effectively with application teams and executing on multiple projects in varying stages of the development life cycle is important.
Experience in data architecture and design with current Oracle Products is a plus. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies quickly and be able to transfer knowledge to others.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS - Skills Required:
Experience with Oracle 9i and 10G.
Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) 10g (10.2.03) experience is required.
Experience with Sybase 11.9.2 and 12.5.x.
DataGuard and/or other replication technologies.
Experience with BMC Patrol, DBArtisan, SQL Backtrack, RMan.
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to address Oracle Very Large Database (VLDB) issues , Oracle Partitioning.
Performance analysis and tuning, Oracle and Sybase P&T utilities.
Ability to work within an established Project Development process
Should be able to work with already established data models and naming conventions
Knowledge of UNIX OS, shell scripting is a plus
Strong project management and planning skills

Ability to work in a team atmosphere
Should work effectively with a minimum of direction
Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Willingness and ability to handle firecall duties
Performs data modeling, logical and physical database design based on a thorough knowledge of modeling techniques, the modeling tools available on the project, and the business functions of the subject system. Performs database administration including tasks such as loading data, managing data security and user access, performance monitoring and tuning, and all aspects of data integrity, backup, recovery, and user support. Plans, executes, and maintains database capacity, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery plans. Familiar with all phases of database programming (i.e. Assists programmers to troubleshoot and tune programs in terms of efficient database usage)
Thorough knowledge of the subject DBMS, DML (SQL), DDL, utilities, services, troubleshooting, architecture, syntax, etc
Experience: 6+ years
