ARCHITECTURE DIRECTOR (PeopleSoft Implementation Lead) in Chicago, IL
Job Summary
Directs and leads the staff and activities of a systems architecture area which delivers best practices standards, provides frameworks, and creates foundational infrastructure in the areas of software development, data management, A technology infrastructure, and middleware and integration solutions. This will minimize the cost of operating and owning technology, and improve the operational effectiveness of existing systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Participates in the planning and scheduling of application programming projects and allocating resources to those projects. Includes coordinating the activities with other IT managers and client departmental management team.
2. Manages the integration of vendor applications and/or consulting resources into existing applications and/or resources.
3. Manages area to defined operational metrics. Reports activity and progress to management regarding actual versus planned metrics, team utilization, delivery and quality commitments, and budget activities of the applications programming area.
4. Acts as liaison between clients and applications area regarding system requirements and capabilities.
5. Identifies issues and risks and resolves and/or escalates them to senior management for resolution.
6. Participates in the identification and selection of information technologies which assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Solid knowledge of the system development life cycle, system and application program development and integration of technological alternatives.
2. Solid knowledge of client area's functions and systems.
3. Solid management and project management skills and ability to organize and plan effectively to
meet both short and long range goals and objectives.
4. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external business partners throughout all levels.
5. Ability to effectively lead and motivate others in accomplishing goals.
6. Ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions which have an
impact on people, quality of service, and costs.
7. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and other business related software
systems and languages. Must be able to manage teams that use Mainframe, DB2, UNIX, Oracle, Websphere J2EE Java, Peoplesoft, Business Objects, and ETL, etc. Other technologies will apply dependent on business area supported.
8. Ability to manage offshore and remote consulting resources.
