Senior Oracle Database Administrator - CT-ORCLTRD in Chicago, IL
Prestigious trading firm located in Chicago's Loop is currently seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. I am looking for an Oracle DBA with either SQL Server or Sybase experience to join the DBA team who will be responsible for design, implementation, support and maintenance of large scale database environments including clustering, securing, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and disaster recovery. Qualified candidate will help manage and support current and future database environments and initiatives, and proactively evaluate physical and logical design and architecture of databases to keep up with the dynamic and growing business needs. Responsibilities: Install, upgrade and keep database platforms up to date with the latest service packs and patches Implement DR solutions and support periodic recovery testing Perform database backups, restores, log shipping, mirroring and replication etc. Perform database performance and query tuning Proactively monitor and maintain production databases Perform logical database design review and physical database implementations Work with development teams on all aspects of database design including tables, views, stored procedures and permissions Work with system engineering team on database server installation, configuration and system performance tuning and capacity planning Implement database migration from one server to another, and synchronize the development/QA/UAT from production environments Deploy production database changes and releases Respond to production and business-critical issues and needs on 24/7 basis and rotate in an on-call schedule Must have 5 years experience as either an Oracle DBA (must have supported 10g or up) Must have 2 years experience administering MS SQL Server 2000/2005 as a DBA or Sybase ASE 12.5.x or 15.x as a DBA Must have working knowledge of T-SQL or/and PL/SQL development or/and optimization. Must have working knowledge of data backup, recovery, and rollback planning/implementation. Must have working knowledge of database performance tuning and configuration tools in Oracle or/and Sybase, and be able to trouble shoot at system level (Linux, Unix) Must have working knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting Oracle or/and Sybase databases using either native technologies or third party tools Must have working knowledge of any Linux/Unix platforms Must have working knowledge of at least one Scripting languages (ksh, bash, csh, Perl) Experience with clustering, replication and mirroring a plus SAN knowledge related to Oracle/SQL Server/Sybase configuration and performance a plus Working knowledge of any ETL tools a plus Experience working with database infrastructure of trading firms/capital markets a plus Working knowledge of Oracle RAC (10g up) or Sybase IQ (12.6/7) a plus Working knowledge of other open source RDBMS a plus Must be able to work in an agile, fast-paced environment, and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and efficiently handle pressure and stress Must be self-motivated and willing to take initiatives and challenges and also must have the spirit of team work Must be able and willing to learn new technologies about and beyond databases and adapt to different work environments Understand and comply with SDLC, source control and change management protocols Excellent verbal and written communication skills To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
