Oracle Database Architect in Chicago, IL
* 3-Month Contract to Hire, or Permanent.*Prestigious Global Financial Institution, located in the Chicago Loop, is currently seeking an Oracle Database Architect with strong design and modelling skills. Candidate is responsible for working as part of a team to design databases and data models in a distributed environment.Duties:* Producing and documenting logical and physical database design using Erwin as a data modelling tool, while working with users and developers to understand their data needs and relationships to existing corporate data * Performing physical database design at the object level, creating DDL scripts, as well as defining database snapshots, table partitions, and backup/recovery strategy for Oracle 10g databases * Performing Oracle database tuning and administration including security management, instance performance monitoring, tablespace utilization, schema object management, database capacity planning, "bottlenecks" and "offensive" SQL activity monitoring and resolution * Maintaining the Enterprise data model repository using Erwin ModelMart software * Assisting developers with application design and performance tuning * Coordinating testing with other development groups and operations, identifying appropriate level of testing and ensure that testing is complete before signing off * Providing support for development and production systemsQualifications: * Minimum 5 years experience in Relational database design and administration * Experience with Oracle 10g and 10i RAC, with special emphasis on data modelling, data analysis and deployment of databases. Strong Erwin skills, including ModelMart experience. Experience with logical and physical design and administration of multiple Oracle databases for both Real Time and batch applications; design experience should include VLDB - Very Large Data Bases - (500+ tables, 1 TB or larger) and table partitioning experience.* 3-5 years experience with applications analysis and design. Knowledge and practical experience of Oracle 9.1 RAC is a plus. Ability to provide design alternatives to proposed processes as needed. Experience with queries tuning and performance monitoring.
