Description Our client, one of the largest commercial, property & casualty insurers in the US, is seeking a Architecture Senior Technical Specialist. Location: Chicago , IL Type of position: Contract, Duration: 60-90 days Required: The specific business skills are P&C Claim process experience. The specific technical experience is extensive Guidewire Claims Center . Vendor relationship management will also be important in this role on the program as the person will be reviewing deliverables from the vendor. Job Summary Individual contributor provides highest level of expertise for development, specification and communication of the firm's technology architecture plan, the infrastructure components required to support it, and in the integration of corporate and business area architectures. Leads multiple projects for the area. Develops innovative and effective solutions for the most diverse and most complex business problems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: 1. Acts as principal designer for major corporate systems architecture including applications, data, and infrastructure architectures. 2. Leads and directs multiple projects managing resources and monitoring progress. 3. Provides integrated systems planning and recommends new or different technologies which will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals. 4. Researches and evaluates new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs. 5. Recommends the appropriate computer platform, work stations and communication linkage required to support distributed and Client Server business processes and information flows. 6. Provides in-depth technical consultation to clients and IT management to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies. 7. Manages vendor relationships to maintain state of the art knowledge in emerging technologies and to develop image as a leading corporation utilizing the latest thinking in technology. 8. Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the insurance industry. Reporting Relationship Director or above Education & Experience 1. Advanced degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. 2. Minimum nine years of solid, diverse work experience in IT including experience with systems architecture methodologies. 3. Some previous project leadership experience is desirable. 4. Applicable certifications preferred.
