Senior Business Analyst-IT in Chicago, IL

Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related discipline. Advanced degree a plus
Minimum work experience required:
* 5-7 years of insurance or financial services industry experience; consulting experience a plus
* Demonstrated experience in leading requirements activities in large complex projects
* Experience with financial systems and/or client profitability analysis
* Ability to lead and coordinate the work of others
* Demonstrated experience with formal SDLC methodologies
Special skills required:
* Experience using and/or developing Cognos Reportnet and Powerplay analysis
* Exposure to data warehousing concepts and methodologies
* Exposure to Activity Based Costing methodologies and/or software packages
* Experience working in an outsourced/off-shore development model
Description of duties & responsibilities:
* Responsible for partnering with business/user group representatives to understand business processes and underlying informational and/or process automation needs, then translating those needs into formal, documented business requirements following methodologies and processes introduced by outsourcer.
* Transition the documented business requirements into an actionable document by gaining approval from the business/user group and meeting the needs of the outsourcer so as to facilitate the development of accurate functional specifications.
* Work with business sponsor and outsourcer to develop report design specifications.
* Support overall coordination of enhancements to various systems between all involved parties, using project management skills and techniques.
* Partner with outsourcer and follow methodology or processes introduced by outsourcer so as to effectively and efficiently develop all business requirements.
* Partner and collaborate between business/user group representatives and outsourcer providing appropriate communication on all activities that impact end-users.
* Initiate and monitor all change requests from business so as to ensure timely and accurate dispositions.
* Review and approve test cases and test results developed by outsourcer
* Coordinate user acceptance testing and signoff
* Define curriculum, design material, and train end users on new or existing applications. Prepare user guides and online help content.
