Senior Business Analyst in Chicago, IL
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Business Analyst plans, develops, and delivers application requirements and recommendations, business workflow analysis, change management activities, and process measurement. This individual manages communications around project details and expectations with internal business units and the information technology ( IT ) management team. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Facilitate requirements gathering and process mapping sessions with stakeholders in group and individual settings.
-Lead sessions to discover and articulate clear organizational and project visions, cases for action, metrics, and resources.
-Discover and document as-is and to-be scenarios of organizational processes, technologies, and challenges in detail.
-Provide recommendations on methods to migrate from the current state to the envisioned state.
-Educate IT staff and business stakeholders on the process of gathering and analyzing business requirements.
-Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to validate all business requirements have been met for a given application.
-Prepare, create, and deliver articles and presentations on industry topics in the business and process markets to IT staff and business stakeholders.
-Track progress against the plan by incorporating information gathered in status reports and one-on-one meetings in regularly scheduled updates to the Project Manager.
-Communicate project progress to stakeholders through status meetings, deliverables, and deliverable reviews.
-Execute and refine procedures based upon Grant Thornton's project management methodology, roadmap and required documentation artifacts.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or proven hands-on work experience.
-PMI, Six Sigma, or equivalent certification a plus.
-2 to 3+ years of successful work experience as a Business Analyst within a consulting, web/application, and/or software development organization.
-Experience in process analysis, re-design, and documentation. Sample documentation may be requested for review.
-Formal and proven experience with business process and system analysis.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Project and Visio or comparable modeling tool.
-Knowledge and experience with industry standard business analysis and workflow modeling principles and techniques for identifying, modeling, and redesigning business processes. Understand the principles and techniques to transition from business process analysis into defining system requirements with Use Case scenarios.
-Knowledge of the internet, e-commerce, software solutions and trends preferred.
-Solid understanding of both front-end and back-end application design and development including creative design, content development, multimedia design, HTML, and the .NET framework is preferred.
-Prior success in estimating software development and implementation projects using standard metrics.
-Basic SQL knowledge preferred.
-Detail-oriented and very organized.
-Ability to interview business stakeholders, facilitate workshops and document current business operations and project objectives or scope for future phases.
-Ability to work with stakeholders to build trust within Grant Thornton to capture accurate information about the project and manage expectations throughout the project's lifecycle.
-Consistent use of excellent judgment when making daily decisions about project activities.
-Possess analytical and creative abilities to problem solve and offer new or alternate solutions.
-Ability to multi-task and prioritize; successfully manage multiple projects of different size and types.
