Provides database support for the Corporate DB2 environments, including configuring and tuning DB2 subsystem, applying maintenance, and scheduling backups. Monitors production jobs and assists the application develops with application tuning. Implements production changes submitted by application developers. Will assists the Lead DBA with defining and implementing a DB2 security policy. Travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
Advanced skills in DB2 configuration, optimization, and maintenance (i.e., performance tuning, backup scheduling, integrity checks.)
A good understanding of SQL and DB2 performance tuning.
Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
Has initiative and is self-disciplined
Preferred Qualifications
Strongly desired experience: DB2 Performance tuning skills in a CICS online environment.
Working knowledge of the BMC database tools.
Very desirable computer knowledge: zOS or MVS/ESA, TSO/ISPF, MVS/JCL & IBM Utilities, ISPF CLIST.
Other computer skills: Knowledge of business and technical environments.
Education/Years of Experience/Other
A minimum of 5 years of technical experience as a DB2 DBA
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Experience: SQL DB2
